Handcrafted custom made milking stool
Description
Christine O’Donoghue de Vries designs the fabric on these custom made milking stools. This one for instance is inspired by the sleeping farmhouse cat curled up on a cushion. It contains a hand drawn image by Christine which was screenprinted and a swirling pattern made of the image. It has the words “the best seat in the house” embellished on it. The fabric is made from recycled landfill waste material. The legs/base of the stool are handcrafted from poplar and ash wood by Gooseisland workshop studio in Co. Kerry. The wood comes from sustainable sources.
This is a piece to treasure inspired by the old tradition of milking cows by hand in the dairy my grandfather and father whilst growing up would have used something similar to sit on whilst milking the cows.
The stools can be made on commission incorporating different designs and even a personal message of your choice!
